Artemis Fowl #1- Eoin Colfer

Just twelve years old and already he's a criminal genius, plotting to restore his family's fortune with a spot of corruption and kidnapping. Kidnapping a fairy for ransom, to be precise. Artemis Fowl has discovered a world below ground of armed and dangerous - and extremely high-tech - fairies.

What I thought of it:

0-0 Wow. This was not what I expected! I really like the characters, and how different they are. I also like how the point of view changes so that you're not stuck in one character's eyes the whole time. A different mindset helps sometimes, right?
I also like how there's a little part at the beginning of the book, kinda like a documentary. It tells you about how the LEP feels about Artemis (but it's really just Foaly UwU) and they sort of try to make you hate him in the second book at the beginning. That was NOT hard, since I had read the first book, which was me banging my head on the wall cuz Artemis was too smart.

How I Found Out About it:

There was a movie. There was a movie. There was a book. Which to do first? BOOK. So, I saw it (The Artemis Fowl movie) on Netflix, and thought to myself, ME WATCH!! Then the other part of my brain screamed, READ FIRST!!! So, I read the book first, and I really super really don't want to watch the movie because the actor is nothing like the Artemis from the book, ok? Then my whole view of the Artemis in the book will be tainted, like when you're eating a hamburger from Wendy's and someone tells you it's made from chicken brains. Not so tasty anymore, huh?

What You Should Know:

Just a little heads up. The first book makes you really really REALLY hate Artemis Fowl. No matter how hard I tried, no matter how many different points of view I tried to look at it from, I still hated him. The second book, you don't really hate him anymore. Hooray!

How Many Stars:

Five stars! Again, I really love the characters, (Holly! Holly is my favorite! Foaly after!) and they make the whole book amazing!
