The Familiars #1- Epstein and Jacobson

After starving alley cat Aldwyn steals food from a fishmonger once too often, he is chased by a notorious bounty hunter intent on exterminating him. He takes refuge in a pet store that sells animal familiars to local wizards and is purchased by Jack, a young apprentice. Little does he know, he's going to do a bit more than acting to hide the fact that he's not a familiar, or he'll be sent back to the alleys only to be hunted down and killed.

The Familiars #1- Epstein and Jacobson

What I thought of it:

You know me. I love my magic! So, when this book combined magic with the next best thing, animals, I was like whaaaaa? And so, I read it. It was very interesting and I love Gilbert. GILBERT FOR LIFE! Also, the cliffhanger at the end of book two scratched my soul a little.
I really like how Aldwyn was dragged into the situation. It makes for a good storyline, and the fact that he loves Jack even though he knows he's not magical is great too. The whole thing is great and I loved it.

How I Found Out About it:

I was searching on Goodreads (again with that amazing website 😊) and then saw the Familiars. I think I had seen the book before, and it looked pretty cool, so (DUH) I read it! It turned out to be superb and I do not regret staying up late to read it. (Oh, the gifts of summer).

What You Should Know:

If you don't like cats, it doesn't matter. If you don't like bluejays, it doesn't matter. If you don't like red-eyed tree frogs, it doesn't matter. If you don't like humans... you're gonna be in a lot of trouble.
