The Skeleton's Poison Orchid

The Skeleton’s Poison Orchid ✥ The wind that shook the windows and rattled the door seemed even more vicious tonight. Orchid wrapped herself in her blankets, shivering. Was it from the cold, or from fear? MEOW. Orchid jumped at the noise. Her body shook, no matter how hard she tried to stop it. Orchid’s bed was creaking at her slightest movements, which made it even harder to sleep.  She had already blown out her candle. The smoke wafted up to the ceiling of her bedroom and then dissipated before she could determine where it went.  Orchid’s cat, Sunbell, jumped onto her bed and curled up at her feet. Purring softly, Sunbell drifted off to sleep. Orchid sighed with relief and leaned back in her bed, pulling the covers up to her mouth.  Taptaptaptaptaptap. Orchid sat up, gasping. Was someone tapping on her window?

Wings of Fire #3: The Hidden Kingdom

Image
Glory knows the dragon world is wrong about her tribe. After all, she isn't "as lazy as a RainWing" -- she isn't lazy at all! Maybe she wasn't meant to be one of the dragonets of destiny, as the older dragons constantly remind her, but Glory is sharp and her venom is deadly... except, of course, no one knows it. When the dragonets seek shelter in the rain forest, Glory is devastated to find that the treetops are full of RainWings that no dragon could ever call dangerous. They nap all day and know nothing of the rest of Pyrrhia. Worst of all, they don't realize -- or care -- that RainWings are going missing from their beautiful forest. But Glory and the dragonets are determined to find the missing dragons, even if it drags the peaceful RainWing kingdom where they never wanted to be -- in the middle of the war.

Wings of Fire #2: The Lost Heir - Tui. T. Sutherland

Image
Tsunami knows she's the heir to the SeaWing throne. She can just imagine it: all her subjects bowing to her, her father guiding her, the feeling of power in her talons. But, there is a mysterious murderer on the loose. One who somehow is killing all the queen's eggs. Why? And... is Tsunami next?

Grizzy

Street View It’s hard, being a pup on the street. When the wind howls, you immediately duck under a bush or whimper in fright. Everything just seems big .  Don’t get me wrong. I love living on the street. But I wouldn't trust a human even if they served up a double bacon-wrapped cheeseburger. They were the ones who tricked me, fowl beasts. They left a slice of pizza on the sidewalk and beckoned me over. I actually believed they were nice! What a loser I was.

Halloween!

Image
Spoooky... As Halloween draws closer (only 5 days!!!) I have decided to postpone my book reviewing for today and write a spooky tale! If you enjoy it, make sure to SMASH the comments section with your amazing and kind comments.  For my creative writing course, I'm taking in BLANK BLANK County, in BLANK BLANK country, in BLANK BLANK... Okay, you get it. Well, anyway, my oh so very best teacher gave us a few prompts to write a scene from. Hence the creepy and nerve-racking clown scene I made. Hence me wanting to write another one. Hence THIS.  So, without further ADO, I present to you:  The Mirror of Okdor!           Tap, tap, tap. "Argh!" Hannah grunted, throwing her markers down on the carpet. "I'm trying to draw here!" Hannah peered up, at the window in front of her. Was it coming from there?      Quickly checking the clock, Hannah shook her head. It has midnight. How had she been drawing for that long? Mother would be very ashamed of Hannah. Which usually

How the Dragon Came To Be - A Just-So Story

How the Dragon Came To Be   One day, high up on the mountain, there was a lizard. She wanted to  fly, but knew that she couldn’t, and if she tried, we would fall to her death. So, she decided to go to the magician at the very tip of the mountain, who she knew could help her.

A Poem About Sunburn and Sand...

Image
First of all... Happy Saturday! I hope you're having a great weekend. Enjoy this bonus poem I wrote for the pandemic. Have a spectacular day! Sunburn & Sand Rocks scratch my legs as the water rushes over my head, Seagulls caw a sad little song as they hope for food to drop. Flip-flops and sunscreen, hot sand, and then flopping down on a bed, The sun chairs are coated in sand and soda cans go pop .

The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel #1: The Alchemyst - Michael Scott

Image
The truth:  Nicholas Flamel's tomb is empty.   The legend:  Nicholas Flamel lives.    Nicholas Flamel is the greatest Alchemyst to ever live. The records show that he died in 1418, but what if he's actually been making the elixir of life for centuries?     The secrets to eternal life are hidden within the book he protects—the Book of Abraham the Mage. It's the most powerful book that has ever existed, and in the wrong hands, it will destroy the world. And that's exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it.     There is one hope. If the prophecy is true, Sophie and Josh Newman have the power to save everyone. Now they just have to learn to use it.

The Secret Series #1: The Name of this Book is a Secret - Pseudonymous Bosch

Image
Warning:  this description has not been authorized by Pseudonymous Bosch 😉 .  As much as he'd love to sing the praises of his book (he is very vain), he wouldn't want you to hear about his brave 11-year old heroes, Cass and Max-Ernest. Or about how a mysterious box of vials, the Symphony of Smells, sends them on the trail of a magician who has vanished under strange (and stinky) circumstances. And he certainly wouldn't want you to know about the hair-raising adventures that follow and the nefarious villains they face. You see, not only is the name of this book secret, the story inside is, too. For it concerns a secret. A Big Secret.

How Much Do You Know...

Image
Hello!   Obviously, using a Bitmoji in my blog is so unprofessional of me. How dare I.  Only teachers do that. I have come to ask you one very unusual question: how much do you know about turtles and tortoises? Are they really  the same? Or is there some hidden difference that we'll never know about?  WELL, the answer is

Image
Arrietty, and her parents, Pod and Homily, are borrowers. Tiny humans who live in human houses, taking what they eat and the things they use for themselves. Arrietty and Homily, since they are female, are forced to stay down, under the floorboards of their house, living a "nice and cozy" life. But it's boring, especially if you're a child. There's a human boy up there - in the house- and Arrietty really is desperate for a friend...
